More patients opt for private hip replacements
Getting a hip replacement can be life-changing. Mobility is one of the most important things to many people, and unfortunately age, injury and illness can mean that for some, surgical intervention is needed.
Last month, consumer watchdog Which? highlighted that NHS wait times in 2026 were on average 27 weeks from GP referral to treatment. This meant that 28,000 opted for private care.
"See a surgeon who uses the same technique on a repeated basis and is highly skilled in that technique," one expert told Which?.
Led by experts
Many choose to opt for private care, as you have the freedom to pick your own consultant and timeframe for care.
Our team include Hani Abdul-Jabar, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, and one of the very few hip specialist surgeons in the UK that performs key hole (non-invasive) hip arthroscopy. In 2017, Mr Abdul-Jabar was appointed as Consultant Hip & Knee surgeon at the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.
Ask the right questions
Which? also advised asking three important questions: how many hip replacements the surgeon has performed that year; does the surgeon review their clinical outcomes and what their surgical approach is.
Our consultants are more than happy to chat through your concerns and questions. Health is our number one priority, and TrustPlus consultants understand that deeply.
