Profile

Stephen is currently working as a Senior Matron - liver, endoscopy and gastrointestinal services at The Royal Free NHS Foundation NHS Trust. He is also a Director of Zarah’s Independent Pouch Services (ZIPS) Ltd as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Stoma and Pouch Care. Prior to this appointment he was Lead Specialist Practitioner at St. Mark’s Hospital and Non-Medical Prescribing Lead for the London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. These roles afforded Stephen the opportunity to undertake ward based care for tertiary patients who had undertaken complex colorectal surgical procedures, liaising extensively with the multi-disciplinary team.  

Prior to his role at St Mark’s Hospital, Stephen was the Lead Stoma Care Nurse at Milton Keynes Hospital, a leadership role which enabled him to attain extensive knowledge and skills in caring for patients with complicated stoma and ileoanal pouch needs within the hospital and community settings.  

Stephen has contributed to a stoma care nursing book and other related topics, he has also written several articles on the Enhance Recovery Programme (ERP). As a member of the team which implemented ERP into St. Mark’s Hospital, Stephen has a wealth of knowledge relating to this topic and the management of stoma patients within the enhanced recovery programme. 

Stephen lives with his family in Harrow, he enjoys reading, rugby and partaking in sporting activities.

Zarah’s Independent Pouch Service (ZIPS) LTD is registered with all major insurers and is fee assured.  

A 60 minute new outpatient appointment is charged at £180 plus stoma appliance / accessory costs.

A follow up appointment is charged at £160 per hour or £90 per 30 minutes plus stoma appliance / accessory costs. 

Longer appointments for complex cases or second opinions are available.
