Dr Allan has been a consultant at Northwick Park for over 20 years, after training in Edinburgh and London, where she has won prizes for her work as an anaesthetist.
She was Director of the Chronic Pain Service for 17 years and now continues to specialise in patients with pain, in private practice and for NHS patients.
She has published research work in the highest quality medical journals in the UK, and in 2011 she will publish her work specifically on neck pain and epidural therapies.
She has signed a contract with a publisher for a book on pain management for primary care due to be available in 2012.
She has lectured internationally to World Congress level on pain research.
As the Principle Investigator for a number of multi-centre studies her work has provided new treatments for patients with pain and provided evidence for European clinical guidelines to help patients with spinal pain.
She provides consultancy services to the pharmaceutical industry for pain products.
