Professional and Personal profile

Henry Penn joined the St Mark’s consultant physician staff in 2009. 

He is a rheumatologist and general physician in the North West London NHS Trust. At present he is the lead for rheumatology in Northwick Park Hospital
His clinical interests include early inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue diseases.  He also has an interest in the interface between emergency medicine and rheumatology, and rheumatological emergencies.

He is involved in service development, including a community rheumatology service with the local PCT and has an interest in patient engagement with health services planning.  He sat on a NICE appraisal for drugs to treat Pulmonary Hypertension, and co-authored the Standards of Care for Connective Tissue Diseases.

He undertook his specialist training in general medicine and rheumatology in London, and has gained valuable experience from leading institutions including the Royal Free Hospital, the Royal London Hospital, and University College Hospital.  

His research work has predominantly been in connective tissue disease, but with more collaborations recently with the rheumatoid arthritis team at Oxford University. He is leading the department efforts to increase research with the Arthritis Centre at Northwick Park He has published his research in peer reviewed journals and presented her work at national and international meetings.
