Investigation and treatment of disorders affecting the small intestine (Crohn's disease, polyps, tumours, strictures and bleeding) with particular emphasis on capsule endoscopy and double balloon enteroscopy.

Non-surgical treatment and prevention of gastro-oesophageal reflux and dyspepsia including endoscopic anti-reflux procedures.

Colon cancer screening and therapeutic colonoscopy.

Medical management of inflammatory bowel disease, functional bowel disorders and motility disorders.

Clinical Lead for Endoscopy for the North West London Strategic Health Authority focusing on service improvement, quality assurance and the independent sector provision of endoscopy.

Professional and Personal profile

Qualified from Edinburgh University Medical School (MB ChB, 1992), trained in gastroenterology and endoscopy in Aberdeen, Manchester and London; awarded research degree from Manchester University (MD, for neurophysiologic rehabilitation of human swallowing after brain injury) and an advanced endoscopy fellowship at St Mark's Hospital prior to appointment as consultant gastroenterologist (2004).

Nationally accredited colonoscopist for the NHS BCSP, clinical lead of the St Mark's Hospital small bowel and obscure GI bleeding service, faculty for the UK Small Bowel Endoscopy Users’ Group and European Capsule Endoscopy Training Course.
